Prayers of Desperation
How often do we pray with such a desperation not for things or for our needs or even the needs of others, but for the sear need to see Jesus? How often do we recognize our need to have God supreme over our lives? Do we ever really stop long enough to see that we can’t do this life without him? The last three days Pastor Jackson Senyonga from Uganda, Africa was here speaking to us about prayer and revival. All I can say about it…if you missed it, get the tape. It’s too meaty to spell out here. But he was calling us to become a people that pray out of deperation, not out of devistation. The revival in Uganda happened out of devistation…the short, shall we call it spiritual awakening in America at 9/11 happened because of devistation. It is much better to call out to God in deperation, recognizing our need of him now, than it is to be made to call out to him because he’s the only thing left. Its like my friend said tonight as we were leaving the church, “I’m tired, but I’m not…does that make sense?” It makes perfect sense your physical body is tired, but your spirit just got woken up! Your spirit just got a wake up call from the Lord and you are desiring to answer it. I pray that I can maintain a spiritual awakening in my own life. I don’t want this to be an event in my life with a great speaker…but a renewal to my first love. A restoration to the place I, we as a body, are called to be!
